Nails Never Fails
Lenny Dykstra - financial genius? My brain sort of short circuited when I saw this New Yorker profile on the former Met star.

Obama on Israel
I missed this line the first time through reading Obama's speech. It is worth repeating, lest it get lost in its larger context:
[Reverend Jeremiah Wright's] remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren’t simply controversial. They weren’t simply a religious leader’s effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam.
Summing It Up
There is a lot of talk today about Obama's big speech on race and religion. As stirring as Obama's words may be, I think Tracy Morgan summed it up best this weekend on SNL:
Why is it that every time a black man in this country gets too good at something, there’s always someone come around and remind us that he’s black? First Tiger, then Donavan McNabb then me. Now Barack. I got a theory about that. It’s a little complicated but basically, it goes like this: we are a racist country. The end.
. . . In conclusion, three weeks ago, my girl Tina Fey went on the show, she declared that “bitch is the new black”. You know I love you, Tina. You know you’re my girl. But I have something to say. Bitch may be the new black, but black is the new president, bitch.
